well you can keep them gagged through their torture, and then ask if they’re ready to talk yet, and if they nod, ungag them. There’s a benefit to keeping them gagged through their torture as it’ll make other people less likely to hear (if that’s a concern) and also you won’t have to deal with listening to their protests.
