What if he’s working for Lilja and making sure she doesn’t remember what she was told about her family? I just got a really bad feeling about this guy.
I kinda agree with YamiDantes. I also hope he doesn’t turn out to be crooked. What I hope they do is make him have some secret suspicions he has about the Trevaines for years but didn’t really want to voice them because of all the power they wield in Belstad. He may have seen people or known people who went up against them and had something bad happen to them,so even though he’s the Chief of Police,he has to tread carefully,not just for his own sake but for his officers and others as well.
As for Julia’s memory,I somehow have the feeling that it could be the combination of those weird candles and the drugs Lilja gave her. We don’t really know what Lilja’s capable of or how far she’ll go,but if the last chapter is ANY indication,she’ll go pretty far. And also,I have the feeling that she still wants Julia as her “plaything.”
Now we have the official confirmation of what Julia can recall and what not. This dialogue definitely builds up a lot of mystery. By the time I’m writing this we already have the answers, but I’m not spoiling anything here for new readers. Let’s just say I was also worried if Philip was a corrupt cop who secretly works for the Trevaines. And I didn’t knew how Lilja’s plan was going to unfold. I like the tension and mystery building up but I’m not sure I like where it feels like this might be going.
